Sir,

718

Supreme Court,

Hong Kong, 21st November, 1901.

In reply to Circular No.57 of the 14th instant, I have the honour to state that the Seals in use in this Court are six in number, viz:

1. The Seal of the Court in its Original Jurisdiction.

2. The Seal of the Court of Summary Jurisdiction.

3. The Probate Seal.

4. The smaller Supreme Court Seal.

5. The small Supreme Court Seal for use on wax.

6. The Seal of the Registrar of Companies.

With reference to Seals Nos.1 and 2, they are used for sealing writs and orders of the Court on ordinary stout paper and are rarely used for sealing on parchment and never on wax.

With reference to Seal No.3, it is used to seal grants of Probate and Letters of Administration, and is frequently used to seal on parchment and also on a wafer seal.

Seal No.4 (the smaller Supreme Court Seal) is used chiefly on summonses to Jurors.

Seal No.5 (the small Supreme Court Seal for use on wax) is used to impress on wax, in the general business of the Registry: such as a seal on large envelopes and the impression of wax on the left top corner of a file of legal documents.
